On the 23rd February 2022, Southwark Council announced the adoption of the New Southwark Plan (now known as the Southwark Plan 2022. The adoption of the plan follows from independent examination where the plan was found to be sound, subject to the main modifications that were consulted on from August to September 2021.
The Southwark Plan 2022 replaces the Saved Southwark Plan (2013), the Core Strategy (2011), Peckham and Nunhead Area Action Plan (2014), Aylesbury Area Action Plan (2010) and the Canada Water Area Action Plan (2015).
The plan sets out the strategy for managing growth and development across the borough up to 2037 and contains policies used to determine planning applications. The policies support the Council’s objective of sustainable and inclusive growth including delivery of new housing and affordable housing, economic development, design quality, place-shaping and climate change mitigation and adaption.
